My Mommy Turned 53 Today!

Today is my mom's 53rd birthday. She's sick though and it wasn't much of a celebration. Yesterday was 5 months since my dad's death. What would have been Dad's 60th birthday was this past Sunday. My husband is out of town. Mom went to the doctor for test results and to learn that she has Strep Throat.

Nevermind all of that, it was still her birthday. Raymond picked out a card for her almost 2 weeks ago and couldn't wait to give it to her. So he did - 2 weeks ago LOL. It was a Scooby Doo card that sang the theme song. HA! This morning I gave her my card.

While she was at the doctors office, Raymond had the brilliant idea to bake a cake. So we did. We made a yellow cake with chocolate icing and a million different colors of sprinkles. Raymond, Ari, and Alex all helped mix the cake and decorate. Raymond picked out green sprinkles. Arianna picked out Christmas Tree sprinkles and Alex picked out red sprinkles. We also did multi-colored ball sprinkles, white sprinkles, and HOT PINK sprinkles. It was a cake fit for a Queen - or an amazing grandma who likes Christmas, pink, no actual plan in mind cakes! LOL

It was a HIT! ....and it tasted spectacular!

We ate it not long after we decorated it. Too bad I didn't get a picture of it but my camera is dead and Donald has his with him in Ft. Lauderdale. UGH!

On a brighter note, we were thinking of getting Raymond a hand-held video game for Christmas for the car. Donald has a T-Mobile Dash that he used when we had T-Mobile. He doesn't use it, obviously. So, I saw a listing on Craigslist -- Trade a T-Mobile PDA for PSP -- I jumped on it! So sometime this weekend or so, I'll be trading our Dash for a PSP in great condition. Obviously I will be checking to be sure it works and look good and all before making the trade but what a great opportunity. 1, to make good use of a cell phone not doing anything 2, to get a PSP instead of buying a new one and best of all 3, not spending any $$... YEAH!
