How Crunchy Are You?

I just had to post this... I love it!

http://themoralesfamily.us/granola.htm

I scored a 165
We're all sick and it sucks so I haven't felt like updating.

We are moving on October 4th... this Saturday! So we are busy packing. I won't update again until after the move.

We do have an appointment on Wednesday (tomorrow) October 1st with Duval County's Office of Vital Statistics to register Nathan's birth. Later that day, we sign our lease and can begin moving things into the house. We still have so much crap left to do, it's not funny.

On Thursday, I'm supposed to meet a woman about the Eco Baby Expo and give her a check so we can be a part of it. We are working full speed on getting this website up!

We are official!

Today was a crazy day. Donald was supposed to come home around noon today. Considering it is now 8:00 PM, I don't think that plan worked. He said he will be leaving Ft. Lauderdale in about an hour. That puts him arriving here around 2 or 2:30 AM. I would rather him stay there. If he doesn't leave until 9, I will insist that he stay there another night.

So, we ran errands today.

First, we drove over to Argyle to get the key for the new house (we don't get to keep the key until Wednesday but we wanted to measure). While in Argyle, we talked to Rob (my mom's ex-boss) and he offered her a job. She accepted. Only downfall is that she will be working from home - yuck!

After talking with Rob, we picked up a book from Melissa, a mom from my mothering group. She was selling it cheap and it's a great homeschooling resource book.

We then drove out to St. Augustine (while eating lunch in the car LOL). We were going to go to the school board first and register Raymond as a homeschooler but Ari changed our plans. She started yelling "ahhh boo boo" and in Ari language that means "I NEED TO POOP!" So we were near the new house at that point, thank God, and stopped there.

We run in the house and I put her on the potty and she changes her mind! LOL.... She MUST be my daughter. We go ahead and measure the rooms we needed to and I nurse Nate-Nate.

Then, as I finished nursing, she starts SCREAMING crying! "AHHHH BOO BOO, AHHH BOO BOO!" So, I run her to the potty and she's screaming the entire time. This is exactly what happens when she poops in her pants. Sooo, she did. She pooped mainly in the toilet but a little in her panties and it was the end of the world for her. I change her clothes and clean up and off we go.

We go to downtown St. Augustine. I must say that I *love* downtown historic St. Augustine, Florida! It's so hippie and artsy and fun. We find the school board buildings (yes, buildings with an S) and I walk around for 10 minutes looking for the right door - every door says "Use other door" haha. I finally find my way in and they have me fill out one piece of paper and say I'm done. WOW. I was totally expecting a lot more. I was thinking I would be questioned and made to show all sorts of proof and this or that... NOPE! It was easy-peazy!

We left and dropped the key back in Argyle and came home.

Mom and Raymond left to pick up dinner and the cat. Mom had dropped our cat, Bubbi, off at PetSmart earlier that day for a bath, nail trim, and to be combed out. He came back so pretty and smells great but man, is he in a bad mood. He's not a friendly cat anyways. Not mean, but just not a people person.

Ari is going to bed tonight for the first time ever without a pacifier! WOOHOo! And if Alex takes his diaper off one more time I'm going to scream! He keeps taking his diaper off and peeing in his sleep in his bed. It's getting REALLY annoying!

Sorry if this sounds jumbled or out of order. I know I'm rambling but it's my blog! I'm allowed to. Besides, I'm getting excited for the Presidential Debate tonight!

Sick Babies & Park Days....

Today we were supposed to be at our bi-montly API meeting on the other side of town. Unforunately, we did not make it. I woke up after a not so restful night to a very sore throat and a bunch of sneezy, snotty, nose blowing babies. We played around the house all day and then ended up at the park in the neighborhood after lunch. I had promised Raymond the park.

We walked to our park and thankfully it was a breezy, not so deadly hot day. We get to the park and the kids have a blast! Nate sat in the stroller peacefully looking around. He loves to be outside. After about 30 minutes of playing, we started counting the big mulch pieces. Raymond and I counted to 60. We learned that there are 60 seconds in 1 minute. We also learned to add 1+1, 2+1, 3+1, 4+1, 5+1, and 6+1. Raymond yelled the number as he threw the piece. It was a great way for him. He loves to be loud and he needs to actually feel something to understand.

They are in bed now after reading 3 books. I'm sitting with Nate watching Ugly Betty. My shows have begun :) Yay!

My Mommy Turned 53 Today!

Today is my mom's 53rd birthday. She's sick though and it wasn't much of a celebration. Yesterday was 5 months since my dad's death. What would have been Dad's 60th birthday was this past Sunday. My husband is out of town. Mom went to the doctor for test results and to learn that she has Strep Throat.

Nevermind all of that, it was still her birthday. Raymond picked out a card for her almost 2 weeks ago and couldn't wait to give it to her. So he did - 2 weeks ago LOL. It was a Scooby Doo card that sang the theme song. HA! This morning I gave her my card.

While she was at the doctors office, Raymond had the brilliant idea to bake a cake. So we did. We made a yellow cake with chocolate icing and a million different colors of sprinkles. Raymond, Ari, and Alex all helped mix the cake and decorate. Raymond picked out green sprinkles. Arianna picked out Christmas Tree sprinkles and Alex picked out red sprinkles. We also did multi-colored ball sprinkles, white sprinkles, and HOT PINK sprinkles. It was a cake fit for a Queen - or an amazing grandma who likes Christmas, pink, no actual plan in mind cakes! LOL

It was a HIT! ....and it tasted spectacular!

We ate it not long after we decorated it. Too bad I didn't get a picture of it but my camera is dead and Donald has his with him in Ft. Lauderdale. UGH!

On a brighter note, we were thinking of getting Raymond a hand-held video game for Christmas for the car. Donald has a T-Mobile Dash that he used when we had T-Mobile. He doesn't use it, obviously. So, I saw a listing on Craigslist -- Trade a T-Mobile PDA for PSP -- I jumped on it! So sometime this weekend or so, I'll be trading our Dash for a PSP in great condition. Obviously I will be checking to be sure it works and look good and all before making the trade but what a great opportunity. 1, to make good use of a cell phone not doing anything 2, to get a PSP instead of buying a new one and best of all 3, not spending any $$... YEAH!

Don't bite the breast which feeds you....

Someone really ought to let my almost 8 month old little munchkin in on that one! The past few days, at least 5 times per day, he bites down on my nipples - YEOWWW! Not nice!

Also, last night Nate started saying "dada" yesterday. My little man is growing up way too fast.

On the Weight Watcher's front - I weighed in last night (week 2 on diet) and I have lost a total of 4.4 lb. WOOHOO! Now only another 31 to go until I reach my goal.

It's Final

Today I went to Sheffield Elementary to withdrawl Raymond from school. It was easier than I had expected. He's already been home for a week. His teacher, Michelle, messaged me on MySpace last night asking if I had already withdrawn him since she had to do assessments on each of her kids today and didn't want to do one on Raymond since he won't be back.

I go in and expect a thorough questioning and thought I would have to at the very least fill out some paperwork. Nope! I told the lady we were moving to another county and that I would be homeschooling in the new county. She said "Okay, I'll go make copies of his shot record and physical" and then off she went. A few minutes later, she came back with copies and said that I would need to take these to the St. John's County Schoolboard to enroll him as a homeschooler. That sounds easy enough.

After I finished in the office, I went back to his portable to get his stuff. I ended up talking with his teacher for a few minutes about her family, my family, and random stuff. I got his folders, notebook, extra clothing, poncho, and soccer ball.

Donald left for Ft. Lauderdale this AM and won't be home until Fri morning. ;( BLAH!

Walking With Dinosaurs & DMV Drama

Yesterday we heard about a show entitled "Walking With Dinosaurs". It looked awesome. We called an RSVP'd. It was free and we couldn't turn down a free show and cool as this one looked.

We go to FCCJ at 9:30 this morning to pick up our free shirts. The kids all received a red t-shirt with a T-Rex eye on the front and tour dates on the back. They love them!

After I left FCCJ, we headed over to the Veteran's Memorial Arena. The lady at the door was less than happy that we were showing up there and made a few rude, nasty comments about it being a press conference and that it really wasn't a kid friendly event. She made it clear that she was extremely concerned that the baby would cry inside. She told me to go in and look around to see what I thought. Truthfully, it wasn't much more than plants, dim lighting, and some loud ROARing on the speakers. My kids love this kind of thing!

So finally, we go in and sit. The man who was supposed to be a paleontologist was instead a doctor who just loves dinosaurs. He was a really nice older gentleman who talked with my children before the show as we waited about the dinosaurs on his tie. During his speech, he passed around a dinosaur claw, tooth, and a replica of dinosaur skin from the Florida Museum of Natural History. I think he realized that the event was sent out for homeschoolers and families because there were a bunch of us there.

My children were extremely well behaved and were quiet and listened and just genuinely enjoying themselves. We will be buying tickets when the actual show comes to town - November 26-30. I think I will like it just as much as Raymond.

After leaving Walking With Dinosaurs, we head to the DMV because I was informed my license was suspended last October! Yes, almost a year ago. I have been driving illegally for a YEAR!

Long story short - I must call Orange County, because that's where the ticket is from. Just for the record, I paid and took the class within the time frame - they just didn't update the system. So, I pray I'm driving before the week ends.

Donald is leaving for Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow for work. I'm none too happy about this as he just found out about it today and he has yet to receive a paycheck.......

So, now we are at home and the kids are in the playroom pretending to buy and sell tickets to a dinosaur show. Raymond is being his bossy self telling Ari & Alex where to go and what to do. ---- the sad part? They listen!

Raymond's Birth Story

Raymond was born at 4:25 PM on April 12, 2003. He was born at Baptist Medical Center in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. Raymond came in weighing 7 lb 13 oz. and was 19 and 3/4 inches long.

The day before his birth, I was *CRAVING* yeast rolls from Golden Corral and still did NOT get them. Donald, myself, and my mom had been at Wal-Mart Supercenter in Fleming Island doing a full blown grocery shopping trip. Mid-way through our shopping excursion, I started feeling really "funny". I had no other way to explain it but "funny". I sat on a bench near the grocery side of Wal-Mart while Mom and Donald tried to quickly finish shopping.

After we checked out at Wal-Mart, we went home and I went on the computer (I *lived* on the computer my entire pregnancy). Contractions came but I shrugged them off. I had already been to the hospital twice previously for false labor. I did NOT want to go again if I wasn't truly in labor. I waited it out.

Around midnight, I was beginning to realize that I was truly in labor. I woke Donald a few times but he was being difficult and refused to wake up. He told me to "Wake me up when they get too bad". I don't think he realized how bad they actually felt. HA! Around 5 AM, I had had enough! I was ready to go to the hospital. I woke Donald up, he called into work, and Donald, myself, and my mom all loaded into the SUV to go to the hospital.

We arrived at the hospital around 7:00 AM, they checked us in and got us settled in our room. It was a really nice, big room. We had already toured the hospital and knew that I would labor and deliver in this room and then be transferred to another room for recovery. As soon as we walked into the room, I was to pee in a cup and then get strapped down to the bed on monitors with an IV for fluids.

People kept coming and it felt like I was in a freak show. Nurses, doctors, social workers, family, and friends coming in and out. Nurses made it their priority to come in every 30 minutes -on the dot- to poke at me and violate me. They asked everytime they saw me if I was read for my epidural. I kept telling them no. I kept telling them how I was really wanting a natural birth. My mom and husband backed me up and told them I didn't want it either.

Finally, after around 14 hours of active labor, I finally gave into the epidural and received it around 9:30 AM. The epidural went smoothly (although I've had a bad back since!) and the pain was gone. Nearing 3:40 PM, I was checked and was told that I was completely dialated and that I could begin pushing. The nurse changed the bed into a pushing device and took a mirror out of a closet so I could watch. I was glad for that.

I was coached on when to push, they told me when to push and when to stop. At 4:25 PM, Raymond Joseph Kaczowski was born into this world. He came out wailing. He was an adorable little brown baby with black hair and grey-brown eyes. Donald and I were in love.

We spent the next 2 days in the hospital. They had taken Raymond to the nursery twice. Once for a bath and whatever else they do back there - Donald accompanied him. The second time for a heart murmur they heard and wanted to watch him for a while. The heart murmur turned out to be nothing - and I often wonder if they ever heard anything or if they just get more money for "watching" a baby?

That's the story of how Raymond came into this world.

getting to know me

My name is Tiffany. I am a 22 year old wife, mother, friend, teacher, taxi driver, chef, short order cook, maid, and a thousand other titles that just don't come to mind right now as I sit here holding a sleeping baby - blissed out on boob milk - watching Dancing With the Stars. This is our nightly routine. After putting our other three blessings to bed, I sit here on the laptop until my eyes just cannot be held open any longer.

On to introductions:

Donald - my sweet, sweet, well-meaning husband. He is a 27 year old aspiring photographer who works full time with his grandfather's company as an A/C mechanic. He loves me dearly but we are still like any couple and have our own issues.

Raymond - my adorable, high spirited, clingy, whiny, loving, alligator addicted son. He turned 5 on April 12th. He is our first, which means he was our "tester child". We had absolutely NO idea what we were doing when he was born so he's been through some things that we never would even think about doing to our other children. We both have issues because of this but I think he's doing a lot better after having changed our ways. We became "attached" at a later part of his short 5 years and are on our road to healing and complete attachment.

Arianna - our preemie. She is our girly girl. She is a princess and knows it. She loves to dress up and play sweet. She's our "Little Mommy". This little girl was born at 35 weeks and came into this world lifeless and not breathing at 4 lb 7 oz. After a quick resuscitation and a week in the NICU, she is now right (at 3 years old) on track with everything other than speech. We are having a time with her speech and after what looked like she was going to begin speaking in full sentences, she has regressed some and we are now looking into speech therapy again. She is a delight and a joy. She's her daddy's girl but when asked who is her favorite, she throws her arms out and says "everybody" but in her own little language that we have become knowledgeable in. She is the reason we began looking into attachment parenting - because she was so tiny and we just didn't think most of what the doctor was telling us could possibly be good for this little 4 lb baby.

Alexander - our "wild child". He has been a handful since I was pregnant with him. He never slows down. He turned 2 on May 10 (8 days after his sister turned 3). He is the most cuddly baby you will ever see. He's crazy and he knows how to push your buttons, but then turns around and gives this look that melts your heart and you just can't help but fall in love - over and over again. He was our first homebirth baby. He had been ahead in everything and just never stops showing how smart he is. His vocabulary is beginning to skyrocket. He's a runner. The second you open the door, he is gone. He thinks it's the funniest thing on earth - but it's made life a little difficult for us. He's curious and loves to get into things. This curiousity will serve him well one day, but today it's a pain.

Nathaniel - Nate is our baby. Our newest little arrival. He was born on January 29th. He was our first unassisted birth and man, was that *the* single best experience in my entire life. I can't imagine doing it any other way now and wish I would have been more confident with my previous children. He is a light. He so very indepedent, it's scary! He has been a lot like Alex in the development department. He has been mobile for months. He's a cuddly baby also and absolutely HATES to see anyone else in my lap. He's connected at the breast a lot of the day and almost all of the night. Sometimes it drives me insane and other times it's the best feeling in the world.

So, that's the roundup. Pictures will follow... my computer is being a pain in the butt right now and won't let me do it upload them without shutting Internet Explorer down!
